Local Law Enforcement
Roughly fifty cars have been smeared with what seems to be blood from a person in the German town of Hanau close to Frankfurt, according to police.
Cars, building surfaces and mailboxes were marked, sometimes with prohibited symbols, they announced in a release.
Law enforcement say they were notified during the night on Wednesday, when a man discovered that a car in the Lamboy neighborhood of Hanau had been marked with a red-colored substance.
The liquid had been placed in the form of a banned symbol, they added.
Law enforcement then discovered multiple other smeared vehicles and residential walls in the nearby vicinity.
These symbols are banned in Germany under laws outlawing the visible presentation of Nazi symbols.
Law enforcement state early analysis indicate the liquid was probably blood from a person.
"At present there remains no lead as to where it came from; authorities are currently not informed of any injuries in connection with the incident," they commented.
City officials stated they were trying "to unravel the case" and have appealed to the public for tips.
An important representative stated the vandalism left him speechless and had to be addressed promptly.
"This act strikes at the core of Hanau and reopens the wounds of the far-right violent incident half a decade ago," he stated on a platform, referring to the death of nine people by a assailant aiming at people of immigrant origin in February 2020.
